Girls In Tech LA Presents: Social Fashion And Beauty Summit Part Deux

Mollie Vandor

October 15th, 2009
Events, Los Angeles
October 27, 2009
7:00 pmto11:00 pm

Heather Locklear’s Melrose miniskirts. Murphy Brown’s pulled together power suits. Diane Keaton’s signature style. Beauty might be skin deep, but what we wear tells the world a whole lot about where we’re going — not to mention who we are and what we do. So, it’s no surprise that looking good can easily turn into feeling good, which in turn becomes doing good. At least that’s the idea behind Dress For Success.

Founded in 1997, Dress For Success is an international organization thaSFBS_PartDeuxt provides professional attire, styling services, career counseling and support to women who need a leg up to get back on their feet — everyone from homeless women to new immigrants to domestic violence survivors. It’s a mission of supporting and strengthening women that dovetails nicely with the ideals of our very own Girls in Tech. That’s why Girls in Tech LA has decided to make Dress For Success a big part of our second annual Social Fashion & Beauty Summit.

The focus of the summit will be a panel discussing whether or not fashion and beauty blogs are the ‘new’ magazine, and we’ll be touching on everything from the new FTC guidelines for bloggers to why the fashion industry should use social media at all.

Of course, there’s going to be a fabulous cocktail party as well. And, we’ll be collecting gently used purses and shoes to help the brand new Dress For Success office in Hollywood get all stocked up and ready to start serving local women. Which means that the summit will be the perfect place to look good, feel good and do good — not to mention a great excuse to clean out your closet and make room for next season’s shoes. And if that isn’t a beautiful thing, I don’t know what is.

The Panelists:

*Nadine Jolie: Founder/Editor, Jolienadine.com & Editorial Director, Thefairest.com.
*Lauren Messiah: Social Marketing Manager, ThisNext.com & Founder, LaurenMessiah.com
*BJ Fleming: Managing Editor at Mademan.com
*Bren Lee Gomez (Moderator): PR & Social Media Assistant, Aiibeauty.com & Editor/Founder, Helloprettylovesyou.com

The Details:

*Where: Live! On Sunset (8801 W. Sunset Blvd)

*When: October 27, 2009 7-11pm

*Tickets are $20 and a portion of proceeds will go to Dress For Success.

*Purchase tickets here.
